Dr. Cynthia Rembert James Ph.D., D.Min., has been described as having a “transparent devoutness coupled with a glaring scholarship”. Dr. James seeks to model the absolute importance of consecrated study and preparation. She incarnates the admonition of II Timothy 2:15 and aspires to fervently and rightly divide the Word of Truth while bringing a sound approach to ministry.”
Cynthia James is a Christian Psychologist who initially completed graduate study at Rutgers University and, subsequently, a second Doctorate at United Theological Seminary. The combination of an emphasis in educational research psychology and pastoral care combine to lend a unique perspective on Biblical Scripture which is evident in her teaching. Dr. James has held faculty positions with: the University of Pittsburgh, Rutgers University Camden Campus, California State University- East Bay, Simpson College, and Allegheny Community College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has additionally served as a former Earl Lecturer in Berkeley California and completed additional study for the M.Div. Program of Pacific School of Religion, a part of the Graduate Theological Union. Most notable are awards received from the National Science Foundation Fellowship, and, the United States President’s Volunteer Action Award.
Dr. James has served over 2,000 congregations nationally providing support in the area of leadership development and congregational health. She is an international speaker, and author who has done extensive training in Finland, Estonia, South Africa, and numerous Caribbean Islands. Together with her husband, Alvin James, the couple planted a vibrant church, Landmark Ministries, in Oakland California, and launched multiple outreach and educational initiatives.
Cynthia Rembert James has joined the pastoral staff of the Potter’s House Church in Dallas, Texas with hopes of providing further opportunities to enhance the believer’s passion for Spiritual Formation and Biblical Study. Along with her zeal for study, Dr. James and her husband share an enduring devotion to the Lord and take immeasurable delight in their three adult children.
